Japanese business eager to support the development of the ASEAN economy

The Federation of Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in ASEAN (FJCCIA) has announced during a meeting with the ASEAN Secretary General its objective to further cooperate and support the development of the ASEAN economy. FJCCIA also welcomed the ongoing talks to achieve the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by the end of the year.

Businesses and companies are expected to benefit from the creation of the AEC in many ways. As an example, ASEAN leaders are currently discussing trade facilitation measures on customs and rules of origin. Information sharing is also an important point of the negotiations for instance as members of the ASEAN want to facilitate exchange of information on products that are subject to mandatory certification.
