Germany supports GSP+ status for Sri Lanka

During an official visit to Sri Lanka, German Foreign Minister Frank Walter Steinmeier expressed Germany’s wish to strengthen its trade relations with the South Asian country and said that Germany would lead the European Union to revive the GSP+ relief to Sri Lanka.

In addition, the EU Ambassador to Sri Lanka, David Daly, welcomed the government’s actions to improve human rights and good governance in the country. The EU high official confirmed that it will be duly taken into account in the decision to grant GSP plus and to lift the fish export ban.
