Sri Lanka: Commission proposes removal of import duties as pathway to GSP+ opens
In support of Sri Lanka’s application for GSP+ status, the Commission has proposed to remove a significant part of the remaining import duties on Sri Lankan products, including textiles. On Sri Lanka’s part, it must commit to ratify and effectively implement 27 international conventions on human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and good governance. The Council and Parliament have until May to raise any objections before the measures go into effect.
